Non-Convulsive Seizures
When one thinks of seizure they tend to think of the violent thrashing and uncontrollable convulsions. However, not all seizures are like this. An unconcious person can still be undergoing a seizure without anyone knowing. These are known as non-convulsive seizures.
How are non-convulsive seizures diagnosed? With an electroencephologram or EEG. There's a problem with current EEG. It's too slow. A person is found unconcious and an ambulance is called. They are rushed to a hospital and every diagnoistic prodecure is done before an EEG is used. An EEG technician arrives on to the site and after 20 minute set up time a diagnosis can be made. Now the patient could be treated. This is terrible. Time is valuable when a person is undergoing a seizure. If they are not treated in a certain amount of time the person will suffer permanent brain damage. Furthermore, the person could be undergoing a stroke or a drug overdose which treatments will differ.
The EncephalopodTM

The EncephalopodTM is a portable EEG capapble of detecting seizures with a response time of 30 seconds. It also elminates the need for an EEG technician. If an EMT was able to detect a non-convulsive they would be able to administer drugs that will help allieviate the symptoms. The EncephalopodTM incorporates advance machine learning algorithms to ensure the detection of seizures.
